About Emma

Leadership experience
Coaching expertise

When you are leading significant change, stepping into greater responsibility or deciding what comes next, it helps to have space to think beyond the demands of the moment. I offer careful listening, thoughtful challenge and a perspective grounded in senior leadership experience.

Together, we work through the decisions and relationships that need your attention, while examining the assumptions and established patterns that may be shaping your response. We look at what to build on, what may be getting in your way and where a different approach could help, so you can move forward with clearer judgement, confidence and purpose.

Portrait of Emma Gilpin Jacobs

My career spans journalism, strategic communications, philanthropy and partnerships, including roles at Time Inc. and the Financial Times, where I served on the Executive Board. Across these settings, I have led teams, advised senior leaders and worked through organisational change.

Alongside my coaching practice, I hold a senior executive role, so I understand the demands of leadership first-hand. My experience in communications, reputation and brand strategy also means I can offer a practical perspective on how you show up as a leader: how you communicate, how others experience you and whether the impression you make reflects what you intend.

I grew up across Europe, Africa and Asia and have built an international career. That experience has taught me to question my own assumptions and stay open to different perspectives.

How coaching works

Coaching starts with what matters to you: a situation to think through, a decision to make or something you would like to change. These questions explain how we might work together.

Who do you work with?

I work with senior leaders across organisations and sectors. My experience is particularly relevant to those whose roles involve complex relationships, public visibility and responsibility for how an organisation is understood.

What is executive coaching?

Executive coaching is a confidential working relationship focused on your development as a leader. You set the agenda; I help you explore it, reach your own conclusions and put them into practice.

What might change through coaching?

That depends on what you want to work on. You might want to make a decision with greater confidence, handle a difficult conversation more effectively, give your team more room to lead or respond differently in situations you find yourself returning to. Together, we clarify what progress would look like for you and explore how to put new thinking into practice.

How do we get started?

Start with a complimentary introductory conversation lasting 30 to 60 minutes. We’ll discuss what you want to work on, what you need from coaching and whether we would work well together.

Where do we meet?

Sessions can take place online or in person. We’ll agree arrangements that work for you and fit around your other responsibilities.

How many sessions should I commit to?

We’ll agree the number and frequency of sessions together, based on what you want to work on. A series of sessions gives you time to test new approaches, reflect on what changes and build on what you learn.

What does coaching cost?

Please get in touch to discuss fees and arrangements for coaching.

Are our conversations confidential?

Our conversations are confidential, and I work in accordance with the International Coaching Federation’s Code of Ethics. We’ll discuss confidentiality and its professional and legal limits before we begin.
